Notes for Contributors
Notes for Contributors
Contributions of between 500 and 800 words are welcomed from all residents of Hong Kong but please note that only articles written in English are accepted.
Prospective contributors are asked to note the following:
Please note that the upcoming issue (Volume 9) has a special theme on “Celebrating the arts in Hong Kong”. Articles highlighting the achievements of local individuals or groups in any form of art activities (which include music, film, dance, literature, photography, sculpture, paintings, etc.), art education or development in Hong Kong, are welcomed. The target audience of this journal is people living in Hong Kong (but not only Chinese people). The journal is intended for people who regard Hong Kong as their home. This includes non-Chinese people who have lived here for some years as well as Chinese people who have returned from overseas or who have always lived here. It can be assumed that readers will know about the Hong Kong way of life and will understand the local expressions which are part of Hong Kong English. However, it should not be assumed that readers will be able to read Chinese characters. Also, formal vocabulary is preferred whereas slang expressions and colloquialisms should be avoided.
Other notes:
Articles MUST also contain some clear suggestions for how members of the public can participate in celebrating Hong Kong. Where appropriate, images can be included. They should be supplied integrated into the article in an appropriate electronic format. Citation and referencing should conform to the APA or CSE style.
To increase the chance of getting your article published in this journal, you are encouraged to consider ideas that are original, include specific concrete examples to demonstrate your ideas, and explore a variety of sources rather than obtaining information from only one source.
