Programme Description

PDipES is primarily designed to enhance the subject knowledge of school teachers who are currently teaching English or who intend to teach English but are without an initial degree in English. The programme consists of 240 hours of prescribed work.
Participants joining the programme IN September 2011 have the option of taking the programme on a full-time (one year) or part-time (two year) basis. They are required to take eight core courses and four broadening courses.

Full-time students take six courses in the first semester, and six in the second semester.
Part-time students take seven core courses in the first year, and one core course plus the four broadening courses in the second year.
All courses are taught on weekdays evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Length of courses
Each 20-hour course is delivered in 8 sessions (2.5 hours per session), over 4 weeks on two weekday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Between each course, a short break is usually provided to enable course participants to complete assignments. A longer vacation is scheduled between Semesters 1 and 2.
Course fees
(To be paid in four equal instalments of HK$17,500 each for part-time students and two equal instalments of HK$35,000 each for full-time students) (Reimbursement of up to $30,000 of the course fee has been approved by the Education Bureau. For details, please refer to the SCOLAR website.)
